Friendship guild decorates Easter eggs

This month it collected 20 receiving blankets, jackets, bonnets and other baby items for babies at Albert Luthuli Hospital.

SIXTY women enjoyed a morning of fun at the Women’s Friendship Guild (WFG) with the theme of Easter on Thursday, 16 March.

The aim of the Guild is caring, sharing and learning.

About half the women wore hats, some of which were really ingenious. They paraded in front of members and Sheila Astill who was the judge for the day. All were admired. Prizes were awarded to Monica Auguste, Beth Bowie and Liz van Schalkwyk. Everyone enjoyed small Easter eggs.

After a delicious tea, the women were shown some ideas for decorating hard-boiled eggs. Everyone was given an egg and trimmings and some amazing eggs were produced. Members voted for the best one and Tina Diener was the winner.

At each meeting the WFG collects items for charity. This month it collected 20 receiving blankets, jackets, bonnets and other baby items for babies at Albert Luthuli Hospital. The Guild collected yoghurt tubs for the Salvation Army soup kitchen and bread tags, which are sold to fund the buying of wheelchairs.

The Guild’s next meeting is on 20 April.
