THE Durban South Lions looked to honour the senior citizens when it held a fun bingo day at the Arcadia Retirement Village recently.

Christa Human, Lions president, said that the Lions wanted to spend time with the senior citizens in a way they would enjoy.

The elderly members of Arcadia were thrilled by the chance to play bingo. The seniors put their skills to good use as they played different formats over the rounds.

To add to it, the Lions created spot prizes for the winners of the bingo and provided a sweet treat to the day with some cake and tea.

Human said it was important for them to show the senior citizens that they care.

“Serving our community is not only about providing practical help, it is also about showing people that they are valued, remembered and cared for. Our visit was filled with laughter, fun, cake and great fellowship, and we hope we brought as much joy to them as they brought to us,” she said.

Human added as Lions they work with passion, purpose and pride. Dawn Solomon, chairperson of Arcadia Retirement Village entertainment committee, said that she is deeply grateful to the Durban South Lions who came through and made them feel loved and seen.
