Bluff mom and daughter’s nachos prove tasty enough for second place
Locals excel at cooking contest.
CHEERFUL work and a cheesy culinary creation landed a Bluff mother and daughter duo second place in a cooking contest.
Lo’real and Learah (7) Watson from Treasure Beach competed in the Spur Secret Tribe Chief Cook contest and were runners-up in the nachos category.

The competition, which was open to children in Spur’s Secret Tribe members and a family member, saw 15 teams compete at Gecko Culinary Adventures for the best nachos and best burger titles.
The pairs were judged not only for the deliciousness of their culinary creations, but also for the way they worked as a team. They had Spur sauces available to them to add some flavour to their food.
Lo’real and Learah were beaten to the top position by a team of sisters, Simoene and Rea Reddy, to come second in the nachos category.
“It was really difficult to choose the winners. All the teams worked together so well, reminding us how important it is for families to spend time together, cook together and eat together. Thank you to DStv, Rascals and Spur Retail Sauces who partnered with us to bring families together in the kitchen,” said Spur Steak Ranches creative director, Joe Stead.
