Bluff verge cutting cycle cut short

Bluff ward councillor JP Prinsloo urges residents to maintain their own verges, while the city wrestles with problems related to the appointed contractor.
“After enquiring twice about the cause of the delay for verge cutting on the Bluff, I was told in week one, the contractor had struggled with financial issues, and in week two, the contractor experienced issues with their cutting equipment.”

Cllr Prinsloo decried these as excuses which the community should not accept. He has written to the head of the parks special service unit, which is responsible for verge cutting, to enquire about the true reason for the delay. “I have requested that the issue be addressed as soon as possible as the Bluff experienced the very same issue last year whenthe previous contractor was fired due to non-performance.”

While he pledged to apply pressure on the department to ensure service delivery, Cllr Prinsloo urged residents to cut andmaintain their verges wherever possible, to ensure the suburb remains clean and beautiful.
