Meeting follows as most Bluff-based used goods dealers fail to renew licences
The public is obligated to provide their information to an SHG dealer whenever they buy or sell from such dealers.
A FORUM meeting will be held on Thursday, 10 May for second-hand goods (SHG) dealers at 6pm at Brighton Beach SAPS.
There are 60 SHG businesses which must renew their SHG certificates and so far, according to the SAPS, only four businesses have submitted renewal applications.
SHG business owners who fail to comply with the provisions of the SHG Act will be issued with a written notice to appear in court, warns Brighton Beach SAPS.

The public is obligated to provide their information to an SHG dealer whenever they buy or sell from such dealers.
Customers who refuse to provide their information or who provide incorrect information will be criminally charged and prosecuted for failing to furnish the dealer with their full names, which may be followed by an admission of guilt fine of R2,500.
This same sanction awaits those members of the public who fail to furnish a dealer with an original identity document as proof of identity and those who fail to provide proof of registration or deregistration of motor vehicle documentation.
Police urge the public to co-operate with SHG dealers, to avoid ending up with a possible criminal record just because they refused to co-operate or because they provided false information to the dealer.
