MONTCLAIR police warns the community that public drinking is prohibited and is against the law.
Montclair SAPS spokesman, Dereck Vijiam said the station has been inundated with requests from community meetings and community policing forums to clarify the offence of drinking in public.

“Any form of drinking alcoholic beverages in public is regarded as an offence. This includes drinking from vehicles on a public road, recreational grounds, at sports fields, parks and on sidewalks,” said Dereck.

The bylaw contravention carries an admission of guilt fine of R2,500.
