Vehicle theft suspect apprehended after wild goose chase
The suspects made numerous attempts to push the officers off the road

On Friday, 24 May reaction manager Louis van Ryneveld of ET Rapid Response Tactical Response Team was patrolling in the Bluff, when he noticed suspects using a white Hyundai Accent attempting to steal a Hyundai H100.
As Louis approached, both vehicles sped off, which resulted in a high speed pursuit. Louis then called for back up and sergeant Robert Jooste from Brighton Beach SAPS quickly joined the pursuit. “The pursuit was ongoing where the suspects made numerous attempts to push the pursuing officers off the road and further fired shots at us. The law enforcement members returned fire, which resulted in the suspect crashing the stolen vehicle, who then attempted to flee on foot, but was however quickly apprehended and handed over to Brighton Beach police,” explained Louis.
The suspects using the Hyundai Accent, unfortunately, managed to evade arrest, but investigations are ongoing. The members were quickly backed up by SAPS Flying Squad, and Bluff COP/CPF members who helped search for the second vehicle. Well done to the members involved.
