Stainbank WI celebrates 47th birthday

The club’s 47th birthday party came to a close with the WI prayer and the wishes to go well and stay safe.

The Stainbank Women’s Institute president, Arlene Greenfield, welcomed all the members and many of the past members to their 47th birthday party.

All members stood in memory of the club’s long standing member Elizabeth Keith, who will not be forgotten. After the singing of unity and the WI prayer apologies were read out and best wishes from sister institutes, Woodlands and Yellowwood Park.

Unfortunately, some of the members could not attend the AGM when presentations were made so Hazel, Demo and May Scott were thanked for judging and Monica Wilson and Shelagh Geddie for going the extra mile. Beattie Johnson Webber took most of the prizes for floral, homemaking, handiwork and craft. Congratulations and many thanks to all the past members. Unfortunately, Koulaa Tsourtis was not present, but the club’s president awarded her the deserved prize for most enthusiastic member. The star prize for all the continued assistance given to the club’s president went to the vice president and treasurer, Linda Hewer.

Raffles were then drawn and birthday wishes to past member, June Andersen, and best wishes to Monica Wilson, who is a past member for her 60th wedding anniversary. Past executive member, Maureen Lavis, then cut the birthday cake. Then it was on with the entertainment and everyone looks forward to the Stainbank karaoke queens which is the club’s very own Arlene Greenfield and Linda Hewer. They will be singing at other venues in the neighborhood as well.
