Bowlers prepare for PN pro 10 pairs
Sunday, 7 July, sees the Port Natal Pro 10 pairs begin

Saturday, 29 June, saw the first round of the men’s club 4’s take place at Durban Wanderers with Eric Smit, Wonkie Somtseu, Brian Deats and Thomas Simpkins beating Errol Pienaar, Robbie Carr, Lennie Pugh and Robbie Spiller 26-10.
Sunday, 7 July, sees the Port Natal Pro 10 pairs begin with Durban Wanderers hosting the third and fourth section’s and Anthony Carr and Richard Hendicott representing the club at home. The pairs of Wonkie and Lofty Cawthorne travel to Amanzimtoti and Paul White and Dave le Roux travel to Wentworth. The club wishes them good bowling. The 71st annual Dan Draper bowls competition will take place on Saturday and Sunday, 13 and 14 July, with 12 women’s teams and 24 men’s teams being catered for. Friday’s various meat pack winners were:
- Lamb pack: Troy Simpkins,
- beef: Robin Grobler,
- pork roast: Thomas Simpkins,
- beef roast: Sandra le Roux,
- chicken pack: Leon Haupfleisch,
- chicken: Brian Reid.
The R500 snowball was a carry-over as Dave le Roux was not present at the time of the draw. The Friday Lotto was a R420 carry over as no one guessed the correct three numbers drawn.
Friday, 28 June saw DJ Tyrone entertain the crowd from 7pm until late, with many old faces reconnecting and celebrating Robbie Carr, 70, and Jeff Bolt’s, 50, combined birthday’s. Special thanks to all who made this a special occasion.
Samantha’s Kitchen is closed on Mondays but you can order off her extensive menu every other day. Contact her on 081-486-7039 for more information. The club’s function rooms – tavern, upstairs and downstairs are now fully renovated and available for hire. The two squash courts also have some unallocated time slots for members and non-members. Contact the club on 031-462-2320 or pop-in for further enquiries.
