Wonkie narrowly misses out in PN jnr masters

Saturday, 7 September, sees the Thumpers Motorcycle Club host their annual spring jol.

This weekend saw Wonkie Somtseu represent Durban Wanderers in the Port Natal junior masters at Westville Bowling Club.

He did exceptionally well, but unfortunately lost his last game 21-16 to eventual section A winner Lloyd Milligan.

Paul White and his side travelled to Pietermaritzburg to play in the annual Spring tournament and finished second overall. Newly retired Neville Phillips and his side won the Berea drawn trips on Sunday, 31 August, with Geoff Atkins and his side claiming second place. Yvonne Rich and her side won the second session to complete the trio of prizes raided.

This weekend sees the start of the Port Natal men and women’s pairs which Durban Wanderers are sponsoring. All are encouraged to go on Sunday, 8 September to support and enjoy the bowls. September will see the bowlers compete each weekend for the pairs titles with the finals on Sunday, 22 September. Tuesday, 24 September, will see another fun day for bowlers and non bowlers take place, with a bring and braai after the prize-giving. Put your names down on the notice board list to avoid disappointment.

The R800 snowball was won by Bruce Biljon. The Friday Lotto reached the R1 000 mark and was a carry-over, as no one guessed the correct three numbers drawn.

Saturday, 7 September, sees the Thumpers Motorcycle Club host their annual spring jol. Gates open at 11am at 42 Benson Road, Montclair, with the main attractions being acoustic route and templar funk on the music front. Other attractions include R6 000 cash prizes, drift trike, food stalls, concourse as well as a prize for the biggest club supporting.

On Wednesday, 18 September, the social section will host a comedy quiz evening. Teams of four are invited to enter, with the fun starting at 6.30pm for 7pm. Cost is R20 per team. Samantha’s Kitchen is closed on Mondays, but you can order off her extensive menu every other day, contact her for further information on 081-486-7039.

The club’s function rooms, tavern, upstairs and downstairs, are now fully renovated and available for hire. The two squash courts also have some unallocated time slots for members and non-members.
