Montclair police share crime stats
The cases of two carjackings and trucks set alight are under investigation by the police in Montclair.
Wednesday, 28 August
A MAN was carjacked at about 9.55pm. According to Capt Derek Vijiam, the man was stationary at the traffic lights on Pendlebury Road, Mobeni in his white Nissan Almera when a white VW Jetta with an unknown registration jammed him in.
“Two men jumped out with firearms pointed at him. They took his cell phone and he was told to jump out and both suspects drove off in the direction of Umlazi,” said Capt Vijiam.
Friday, 30 August
A COUPLE was carjacked at about 6.15pm at Pendelbury Road traffic lights. The couple was in a silver-grey Polo Vivo when two armed men approached them.
“They took three cell phones, forced the couple out of their vehicle and they drove off in the direction of Umlazi,” said Capt Vijiam.
Monday, 2 September
TWO truck and trailers were torched in the Nagle Square Park in Montclair at about 12.30am.
“The drivers were at home sleeping. Both horses were totally burnt out. Mobeni Fire Department extinguished the fire. The drivers were interviewed and no injuries were sustained. Investigations are continuing,” said Capt Vijiam. A case of malicious injury to property was registered with the police.
