Bluff duo leap to success in diving bell any pairs

The annual Bluff/ Wentworth challenge takes place on Sunday, 13 October

Bluff Bowling Club’s Noel Morel and Robert Mhlongo had an emphatic victory in this month’s diving bell sponsored any pairs competition when they finished well clear of the field when they amassed a score of 4+33 which was 21 shots ahead of second placed visitors from Stella Park’s Warren le Febour and Pierre Langlouis, definitely a French connection there, who finished on a respectable 4+12.

The second session was won by Matt Lassak and Denzel Venter on a 2+17. The chicken raffle produced two women winners in June Foster and Lilah Nel.

On Friday night, 4 October, Michael Schudel claimed the attendance draw and pocketed R100 just for showing up. Lilah Nel won the right to locate the joker card, but once again it was reluctant to show itself and is now a carryover to the amount of R3 586.

Due to the Port Natal open and senior singles being played this weekend there were only two club competition matches played and in the women’s trips Bridget White, Ronel Morel and Wendy Fleetwood had a narrow victory over Elize Stapelberg, Glynis Macrory and Paula Osman 19-16 while in a mixed drawn trips match Kurt Spack, Bridget White and Lionel Diamond outlasted Harvey Simpkin, Noel Morel and Louise du Plessis 24-20.

The Fabricon 2-4-2 competition takes place on Wednesday, 9 October at 1.30pm. Participants need to be there early as only the A green will be open there are only 12 teams that can play so check the notice board.

The annual Bluff/ Wentworth challenge takes place on Sunday, 13 October, with the men playing at the Bluff and the women at Wentworth. The prize-giving and bring and braai will be held at the Bluff after the games.

Members are asked to watch the notice board for upcoming events and postings.

Members are also asked to make sure they have secured their tickets for the Gee-Jay show which takes place on Friday, 25 October, which is a fundraiser for the annual women’s tournament.
