Bluff women’s team retain teddy bear in annual challenge

Members are asked to remember that the Grand Rapid Spur any pairs competition takes place on Sunday morning, 20 October

This year’s annual Bluff/ Wentworth challenge match was held on Sunday morning, 13 October, with the Wentworth women hosting the Bluff women’s team in which the Bluff team retained the teddy bear by winning their match four points to two.

The Bluff Bowling Club men’s team battled it out and what a close encounter it turned out to be as both sides ended with three games apiece and were only separated by a nine shot margin which saw the Bluff regain the trophy which they lost at Wentworth last year.

The games were played in good spirit and were a great advert for the game. Wentworth will host the next match in 2020. This month’s Fabricon any pairs competition was won by Thys Moolman and Rob Armstrong on a 4+13 and they are now on the perch for next month’s competition.

The first session was won by Anne Bonthrone and Geanne Mitchell on a 2+6 while the second session was won by Dudley Dorrofield and Ian Hayes on a 2+5.

There was two men’s nominated pairs competition matches played on Saturday afternoon, 12 October, and Gary Moffat and Deon Els defeated Kurt Spack and Harvey Simpkin while Ken Fann and Noel Morel accounted for Robbie Johnston and Dudley Dorrofield.

On Friday night, 11 October, the elusive joker card was revealed and George Nel pocketed the R3 500.

Members are asked to remember that the Grand Rapid Spur any pairs competition takes place on Sunday morning, 20 October. Be there by 8.30am as there is only space for 14 teams and you don’t want to miss out.
