Montclair SAPS crime round-up

In the latest crime stats in the Montclair policing precinct, a burglary, theft, and theft from a motor vehicle were registered with the local police.

A BURGLARY case is being investigated by Montclair police after welding equipment was stolen from a local business on Leicester Road in Mobeni.

According to captain Derek Vijiam, the complainant securely locked the doors to the premises at 1pm on Friday, 8 May. “On his return to the business premises on Monday, 11 May, he was informed that two welding machines were missing from the premises. On further investigation, he noticed that entry was gained through the roof,” he said.

In a separate incident, a case of theft was registered with Montclair SAPS after a man was robbed of his cell phone on Monday, 11 May at about 8am.
“He was walking and talking on his cell phone on South Coast Road, Clairwood opposite Hullets when he was accosted by two unknown men. One of them grabbed hold of his cell and ran away. The victim chased after the assailant but was stopped by the knife-wielding goon,” said Captain Vijiam.

Montclair police are also investigating a case of theft from a motor vehicle following the removal of tyres from a private car on Friday, 8 May about 5.30pm.

“The plaintiff securely locked and parked his vehicle, a Mercedes Benz Actros on South Coast Road in Clairwood. On Monday, 11 May, he reported on duty and noticed that his two Sunfull truck tyres were missing. On further investigation, he realised it was stolen,” Captian Vijiam said.
