Eyewitnesses help Wentworth police secure murder accused’s arrest
The accused was arrested on Tuesday 13 April and detained in Wentworth police station cells.
WENTWORTH eyewitnesses played a key role in securing the arrest of a murder accused recently. This follows a shooting that broke out at Lansdowne Road flats on Saturday night, 10 April.
Statements were taken from eyewitnesses by Wentworth SAPS detectives.
“The accused, around the age of 40, was arrested on Tuesday 13 April, and detained in Wentworth police station cells. He appeared in the Durban Court the following day. He was released on bail and will be appearing in court thereafter.
“Wentworth SAPS Management would like to thank the witnesses who came forward and gave statements to assist the police investigating officer in solving this murder case,” said Wentworth police spokesperson Captain Mbuso Gumede.
The investigating officer is also commended by the detective branch commander Lt Colonel Duke for his swift response in handling the case and arrest of the accused.
