Photographic exhibition proves an eye opening experience

A PHOTOGRAPHIC exhibition, St John 20/20 Vision, opened at the Tatham Art Gallery in Pietermaritzburg on Sunday 16 May where it will run for two weeks.
Bluff resident and St John Durban centre administrator, Catherine Dedman, who has given more than 40 years of her life to St John, was also featured in the artistic and worthy event.
The exhibition promotes the work conducted in the field of eye care and its impact on the lives of everyday South Africans presented by St John South Africa, well-known internationally for first-aid training and related services. It features 32 photographs taken by Cape Town photographer David Prior with accompanying explanatory text narratives.
The exhibition also has very particular goals in mind: to showcase how individuals’ lives are changed when they have the gift of healthy eyesight, to raise awareness about the eye care work of St John in local communities, and to highlight the importance of accessible, affordable, high-quality eye care.
St John, who has Eye Care Clinics in Durban and Pietermaritzburg will conduct free vision screenings for visitors all day on 22, 23, 29 and 30 May at the Tatham Gallery (on a first come first served basis).
