Honouring the mothers of Wentworth

The initiative was part of the continued Mother’s Day celebrations aimed at uplifting and honouring the oldies within the home and surrounding community.

THE mothers and aunties of Wentworth were treated to a delight of tasty treats and a home cooked meal on Friday, 14 May at the Association for the Aged’s (Tafta) Primrose Wellness Centre.

The initiative, which was held under strict Covid-19 restrictions, was part of the continued Mother’s Day celebrations aimed at uplifting and honouring the oldies within the home and surrounding community.

Tafta Primrose Wellness Centre coordinator, Heidi Naidoo shared that growing up in Wentworth every woman was like a real mother figure to her.

“Doing this was like a small token of our appreciation for all they have done for all the boys and girls that needed that extra love and attention. Sometimes we needed to be set straight and they made sure of that. They are the backbone of our community and need to be honoured not just on Mother’s Day but every day.

“I want to take this opportunity to say Happy Mother’s Day to the most amazing moms anyone could ask for. The people from Primrose Club and John Dunn are known for their hospitality and a true sense of community and they have shown me so much kindness. A simple thank you will never be enough,” she said.
