MONTCLAIR police held an interactive presentation on Child Protection where pamphlets were distributed at Clairwood Secondary School on Thursday, 3 June.
Captain Derek Vijiam addressed learners with the objective of empowering them with knowledge and interacted with educators.
Officials from the South African National Institute for Crime Prevention and the Reintegration of Offenders (Nicro) were also present.
Pamphlets to encourage victims on how and where to seek assistance with the contact details of various NGOs and the Victim Friendly Facility at Montclair were distributed.
Carjacking
A MAN was left stranded on South Coast Road near Grimsby Road on Tuesday, 1 June at about 4.15am.
“The victim was offloading with a vendor when he was surprised by four men with firearms. They demanded his vehicle keys, got into his vehicle and drove off,” said Vijiam.
Carjacking
A DRIVER who was parked on Alamein Avenue, Montclair in an NP 200 bakkie was held at gunpoint on Tuesday, 1 June. He was awaiting the arrival of his passenger when a silver VW Polo pulled next to his bakkie.
“The occupants alighted their vehicle and pointed the victim with firearms. They made the victim sit inside and drove off with him. They drove off a short distance and stopped where they left the victim with the vehicle after removing goods,” said.
Business robbery
TWO unknown men pounced on unsuspecting employees in their business premises on Saturday, 5 June about 12.10pm.
“The victim was busy with other employees when the two entered. They appeared to be normal customers as they approached the till. Another armed man entered and held up the security. Thereafter, the two at the till also produced firearms and removed groceries, cell phones, jewellery and cash. They left with their loot in a VW Polo,” said Vijiam.
