HELPING the youth reimagine their futures.
This was the inviting theme of the Knowledge is Power event hosted by the Gcinamasiko Arts and Heritage Trust (GAHT) at the Bluff Showgrounds (under the Storytelling Tree) on Saturday, 26 June.
The youth event, led by Dr Gcina Mhlophe, hosted several professionals from various industries who shared their ideas and helpful information to guide the many young people who are trying to find their feet in an unfavourable economic climate. In keeping with the foundation’s essence for all things arts and culture, music and poetry was also on offer for attendees.
“We wanted to host a youth event that focuses on honing the skills of the youth and equip them to make the most of their careers, whether they are working for themselves or for other people. This ranged from basic skills such as how to present themselves, how to talk to others, pitch their idea, how to write a CV as well and help expose them to the career choices out there so that they can reimagine their futures,” said office coordinator of GAHT, Nomakhwezi Becker.
