Generous donation will beautify the Bluff

THE Marlborough Park traffic circle will be in full bloom soon thanks to a generous donation of seedlings by a good Bluff Samaritan.
The donation comes after an appeal made by ward 66 councillor, Zoe Solomon in hopes to restore that previously neglected area.
“I had approached the Department of Parks and informed them of this circle was always the colour of flowers in the past and thought it would be great to bring it back to life again. I really think that considering the current climate that we’re living in, people need something to make them happy. Every time I drive around this circle I feel down because it is so bare. Having lived here all my life I can’t help but expect to see that splash of colour when I come around this part of the Bluff. However, the department said there was no money in the budget to spend on seedlings,” said Solomon.
Not one to put down her shovel, she reached out to a resident who works very closely with the community and supportive of various initiatives to assist.
“Fortunately a resident, who wished to remain anonymous, agreed to uplift the circle. An official from the parks department proceeded to place an order at Illovu Nursery and the resident paid it straight into the nursery’s bank account. Thanks to R4000 worth of seedlings, we will get our beautiful patch back. I’m really happy and grateful for this project and to the donor,” said an excited Solomon.
