AS many leave the safety of their homes in search of food and other essentials, community members are urged to be cautious and vigilant as calm has not been restored in many parts of Durban including Montclair, Woodlands, Clairwood and surrounds.
Security personnel groups have reported looting at several other stores today (Tuesday, 13 July) including Mayfair Home and Décor in Mobeni and Bakers DIY on Wood Road, Montclair. Security Force members had to withdraw as the group of protesters was getting out of hand.
The vicinity of Ronald Road has also been marked as high alert with protesters frequenting the area.
In his call for peace, a disheartened ward 64 councillor Gavin Hegter said it is a sad reality that most of the destruction is being caused by residents who relentlessly loot their own area.
