Wentworth stands united in adversity
A proud Wentworth Community Police Forum (CPF) chairperson, Pastor Donavan Anderson said he was pleased to witness residents come together to defend the community.
IN an unforeseen time of civil unrest, in which many communities were turned upside-down, the residents of Wentworth stood united last week.
A proud Wentworth Community Police Forum (CPF) chairperson, Pastor Donavan Anderson said he was pleased to witness residents come together to defend the community.
“There has been no looting or protests in our area, however, the unrest did affect us all. It was disappointing that the military was only deployed after all the looting and burning of stores and warehouses,” said Anderson who shared that criminal activity was still rife in Wentworth, particularly on Woodville Road and Hime Street.
“The only solution is for law enforcement to weed out people responsible for this turmoil and take the necessary action until normality is restored.
“My message to the communities of Wentworth, Merebank and the Bluff is a heartfelt thank you for your sacrifices in leaving the safety of your homes to defend our communities and malls. My prayer is that this unity will continue even after this as we work together concerning other issues in our community,” said Anderson.
