Mr SA hopeful aims to make impactful change
Bluff resident and top 40 finalist, Rylen de Esclana, currently ranks at number four and believes he has what it takes to win the coveted title.

Ranked fourth in the top 40 nationally, Bluff resident and top 40 finalist, Rylen de Esclana believes he has what it takes. He believes in being the change he wants to see in the world.
“Winning Mr South Africa will help amplify the vision of my heart and purpose of life. It is a platform to empower, impact and mentor the emerging generation.”
“It is to help them become integrious and respectable individuals in society who know the purpose and identity to become the agents of change to the world they meet.”
“This is dear to me and it is my life’s purpose to see my generation healed. I want them to never stay a victim of the past and their realities but to learn to triumph and be victors of their story,” he said.
A real estate agent and business management facilitator by trade, Rylen’s hobbies include networking, hiking, blogging, and reading good books on leadership and empowerment.
He considers spending time with family and close friends as a big part of his life. Having served five years as a youth pastor for his church, the Durban Christian Centre South his passion for young people speaks for itself.
“I’ve worked in the surrounding communities through my Organisation 3C- Commission, Connect and Community. There, I do motivational sessions with assemblies and small group counseling, as well as individual mentoring.”
“I also serve as a worship leader and an itinerant minister. I’m dedicated to leading the lives that cross my path. I give God my father the glory for keeping me keep true to the core of the convictions I live by.” The 31-year-old exemplifies the characteristics of an everyday hero.
His stance is zero tolerance for bullying and gender-based violence. He calls on all men in the country to take a stand against social ills for a better tomorrow.
“We have journeyed from the top 75, top 60, and where I ranked 13th nationally. Cuts were further made in the top 50 where I ranked 12th nationally and with the latest elimination in the top 40 semi-finals, I rank fourth nationally.”
“This is because of your votes, love, and support. There is much work to be done to impact the emerging generation, especially the young men in South Africa. That together with your votes the gives me the platform to have impact change for the better and it is possible,” he said.
