Planned water shutdown to affect supply in ridge areas

Residents in Montclair, Woodlands, Yellowwood Park, and other areas will be affected

A 12-hour planned water shutdown of the municipal’s 800mm pumping main will affect residents in Montclair, Woodlands, Yellowwood Park, and other surrounding areas.

In a statement, the municipality said the Wiggins Water Works to Ridgeview reservoir shutdown will be implemented gradually.

“The objective of the shutdown is to firstly, lower and tie in a 300mm steel water main into the existing 750mm pumping main.”

“Secondly, to tie in a new 400mm steel inlet water main into the 750mm rising main and lastly to replace air valves on a 750mm rising main,” the city advised.

The work will begin today, August 5 at 18:00 and is expected to be finished by 06:00 on Saturday, August 6.

Other areas that might experience water outages, poor pressure, or intermittent supply are:

1. The Ridge (Musgrave, Morningside, Berea, Overport, Greyville, Entabeni, and Upper Glenwood)

2. Chesterville, Mayville, Cato Manor, and Bonella

3. Sherwood, Clair Estate, and Sydenham
