Over R500K drugs worth seized in bust
The multi-disciplinary operation was held in Montclair and Wentworth.
INTENSIFIED provincial police operations are ongoing and as such, residents can expect more police visibility in their respective areas as the police pounce on criminals.
On Tuesday, August 24, at 16:15, a multi-disciplinary operation was held in Montclair and Wentworth.
The team followed up on information about a drug lab said to be producing and transporting a large number of drugs.
“The police proceeded to Atherstone Place in Montclair where a 32-year-old man was found in possession of eight large solid blocks of rock cocaine and 254 blue and white capsules of heroin.”
“The suspect was placed under arrest for possession of drugs. Another 31-year-old man was found at the same premises in possession of drugs, three flat-screen TVs suspected to be stolen, and live ammunition.”
“The suspect was also found in possession of a scale and money-counting machine. He was then placed under arrest for possession of drugs, possession of stolen property as well as unlawful possession of ammunition.”
“The estimated street value of the recovered drugs and property is R550 000. Both suspects appeared before the Durban Magistrates Court on Thursday, August 26,” said spokesperson, Captain Nqobile Gwala.
