Bluff bundles together to keep community safe
Speaking to the SUN volunteer, Chantal Horrocks extended her thanks to the organisations and companies who came on board to serve and protect the Bluff from the unrest that broke out in July.
WITH speculations of a city-wide shutdown in eThekwini last week, Bluff patrollers came forward yet again to their community.
Thankfully the threat proved null as no protests took place last week.
Operating from the Wentworth Bowling Club, as recently referred to as the ‘headquarters (HQ)’, community volunteers had their ears to the ground for any suspicious activities and all worked together to ensure the group effort ran like a well-oiled machine.

“A big thank you to all the companies that sponsored what they could, enabling us to cook and serve our heroes. Thanks to the Wentworth Bowling Club staff for their help and for allowing us to use their premises as our headquarters. To Wentworth Hotel for helping us cook our first meal and supplying the food on short notice. To Rush and Spoil Yourself for sending the women vouchers that worked hard to make sure everyone was fed. To the admin and HQ controllers for delegating and smooth running overall. To our ward 66 councillor, Zoe Solomon for pulling the shifts with her team and leading us. And finally to thank you to all road patrollers and the community that assisted with drop-offs. Together, the Bluff achieved top results,” said Chantal.
