Missing teen’s family desperate for answers

THE family of missing Bluff teenager, Siyanda Ndlovu, is desperate to know his whereabouts.

The 18-year-old went missing under mysterious circumstances with allegations of assault and kidnapping. He was last seen in the late afternoon on Friday, June 18.

He wore a black t-shirt, black pants, and takkies. His aunt, Khanyisile Bombo, said her mother, Ndlovu’s grandmother, has not been coping since he disappeared.

“It is really painful to us as his family. We remembered our late brother, his father, through him. He is the only thing he left us within this world as he is his only child. His disappearance hurts my mother, who is almost 70-years-old, the most. She barely sleeps,” she said.

Bombo said the entire family is broken as they all wonder whether he is still alive or not.

“If he is alive, what does he do and what does he eat? The person responsible for his disappearance has told a lot of people about what she knows. She once said that we will never see Siyanda again. However, when the police question her, she denies all her utterances,” she said.

His aunt added that said the teen, also known as Baye, moved in with his paternal family after his mother died years ago. Prior to that, he had been living and schooling in Umlazi.

“To not know where our son is and having people on the side with various stories is very painful. It is a very harsh reality to be in because we don’t know where we’re going to start looking to find him.”

“Even if he is found dead, we will accept it and have the closure we desperately seek of knowing where his remains lie. We will not even seek justice, at this point all we want is peace of mind. Being in this predicament is really painful because the mind wanders, drifting between the thought of whether he is alive or dead,” she said.

Spokesperson for Brighton Beach police, Captain Louise le Roux said, “All leads and speculations were followed up and investigated, sadly with negative results. However, the investigation is ongoing.”

Ndlovu is medium in build and weight. He has brown eyes with short black hair and is of average height.

He has a snub and small nose with flat and small ears. His upper lip is thick while the lower lip is thin. He has a 3cm scar on his forehead and has a chest tattoo written ‘Siyanda’.
