New NPO establishes its roots in Montclair
OkaMahlobo Foundation places the needs of the community first and offers help with pride and dignity.
LIKE-MINDED individuals banded together to start a new NPO to bridge the gap in the needs of the community.
Montclair-based OkaMahlobo Foundation prides itself in putting the needs of people first and ensuring that they are clothed and fed with dignity.
Founder Nonhlanhla Ntombela, said although they are still in infancy, they are very motivated to carry out their mandate.
The organisation’s roots are firmly attached to ward 64 but are able to extend its branches into other areas on request.
“They say charity begins at home, which is why our area of focus is our ward but we are not limited to it. We are able to extend a helping hand into other areas such as Umlazi, Cato Ridge, Lamontville, Wentworth, and Merebank.”
“The foundation is already registered and is not associated with any political party. We serve anyone within our range who is in need. Depending on the kind of donations we have, we are able to give out food parcels, clothing, shoes, and sanitary towels,” she said.
To end Women’s Month with impact, Nonhlanhla wrote a poem dedicated to women:
Who is a woman? A wife, mother, daughter. She is a teacher, nurse, security officer. She is also a nanny, comforter, counsellor, maid, handywoman, waitress, and cook.
Women work day and night, and get paid with the sentence, “What do you do all day?”
When she is quiet millions of things run through her mind. When she stares at you, she is wondering why she loves you so much despite being taken for granted.
When she says, ‘I will stand by you’, she will stand by you like a solid rock. Never hurt or take her for granted as nowadays Women are the face of poverty, gender-based violence, sexual assault, and femicide.
