The suspects shot the driver in the leg before robbing him of his cellphone on Saturday night.
THREE alleged hijackers ran out of their luck when they were followed and arrested by the police on Sunday, September 12.
All three were armed on Saturday, September 11 at 19:00 when they allegedly hijacked a motorist on Down Avenue in Montclair, police said. Provincial spokesperson, Colonel Thembeka Mbele said they managed to corner the trio when they and a tracking company followed up on information.
“The suspects shot the victim on the leg before robbing him of his cellphone and the vehicle. They fled the scene with the vehicle.”
“Charges of carjacking and attempted murder were opened at Montclair SAPS. On Sunday, September 12 police officers together with the vehicle tracking company followed up information regarding the hijacked vehicle,” she said.

The information led the team to Malangeni on the South Coast where the vehicle was spotted, Mbele said. The suspects aged between 28 and 31 were arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle.
“They will also be profiled to check if they are linked to other hijacking cases reported in Montclair and surrounding areas. They appeared before the Durban Magistrates Court on Monday, September 13,” she added.
