Pandora Pre-Primary School celebrates its 75th birthday

Pandora Pre-Primary School is registered as an independent school.

Pandora Pre-Primary School is an educational institution and we are celebrating our 75th birthday.

We provide pre-primary and primary school education. As of next year our school will cater for children up to Grade 5. Thereafter we will continue to grow until Grade 7.

We are an independent school registered with the Kwa-Zulu Natal Department of Education and Culture. As an independent school we limit the number of children per grade which allows for a hands on approach which provides individual attention and assistance to the learners.

The small number of learners per grade and the motivation of our learners to work hard to achieve commendable results is our credo.

Our school motto is “ Per Labores Ad Honores”. The essence of achievement through hard work is inculcated in our learners. We strive to assist our learners in problem solving and to always work hard to achieve good results.

There are six educators including the principal, one assistant teacher, a secretary, two domestic workers and a gardener.

Pandora has a governing body which makes the important financial and maintenance decisions as well as staffing appointments. The principal and educators have BA and B.E.D academic degrees as well as professional education diplomas. One educator possesses a Montessori qualification.

The school hours are:
Arrival time is 06:45 until 8:00. The pre-primary section of the educational programme runs from 8:00 to 12:00 Monday to Friday.

Grades 1 to 5 hours are 8:00 to 13:30 Monday to Thursday and Friday until 12:30. The aftercare is open until 17:00 Monday to Friday.

Pandora follows the Department of Education and Culture’s school terms.

The school’s email address is pandorapre@telkomsa.net and the telephone number is 031 467 4221.

The school is situated at 61 Acute Road, Bluff.

We are very proud of the stability of the staff with very few staff changes over the years. We have established a cohesive and supportive bond where we all work together for the benefit of each learner. Our staff all have diverse and special talents which are put to good use in our educational programme.

Our school came into being when mothers on the Bluff decided that a nursery school was needed for their children. In 1946 Assegai Nursery school was born as a result of this decision. Pandora Nursery school resulted from this initial start-up and was housed in the Methodist Church building. The governing body decided to build a school on the corner of Tara and Bideford Road (Now known as Zintocele). This is where you will still find us.

In July 2018 we were registered with the education department as an independent school. Since then we have grown from Grades 1 to 5, eventually opening Grades 6 and 7 in the future. We are very proud of our rainbow nation school.
