WATCH: New king coronated at royal house

The coronation of a traditional king is a momentous occasion that is marked by a series of significant rituals and traditions.

JUBILATION filled the Abbaquar-San Royal House in Austerville Drive during the coronation of the new king, His Majesty King Mervyn Dunn, recently.

The honorary event held great significance for residents in Ward 68, who gathered to celebrate their new king.

His Majesty King Mervyn Dunn, said, “I was coronated by the people, meaning it was a choice by the people and under God, on May 6. I was coronated and anointed by King Thomas Edgar Brown.

The third week after the coronation and cultural introduction had taken place, I was proud to have been introduced to the community and leaders at the Abbaquar-San Royal House.
“It is a privilege and honour to serve my community in the best possible way that I can. I am a servant of God and I intend to make a significant and profound difference in our nation and community and uplifting our people with whatever resources I can avail myself to.”

Olivia Jones, the chieftess of the Abbaquar-San Royal House KZN, said it was an exciting and auspicious event.
