Wonderland of love for baby home

The Journey of Hope Baby Home held a special Alice in Wonderland-themed fashion and high tea fundraiser for the home.

IT was a journey down the rabbit’s hole for the attendees of the Journey of Hope Baby Home, who held a Fashion Week in Wonderland High Tea fundraiser at the St Barnabas Church on October 3.

Caileen Flemming, founder of Journey of Hope Baby Home, said that the women from The Bluff were tasked with dressing up in Alice in Wonderland-inspired outfits. From the queen of hearts to bunny-inspired pieces, the women went all out.

There was added pressure as they were judged by award-winning international designer Karen Monk-Klijnstra who also delivered a talk on the day. Keeping the vibe alive was the job of Don Seagreen who provided some sweet tunes on the day.

The queen and her rabbit Sam Musk and Lauren Machanick went all out with their attires.

Flemming said the day was an incredible success and that they were able to raise a whopping R18 650.

“As an organisation we are so incredibly grateful to the community for their ongoing support. Without them we simply wouldn’t be able to keep on doing the work we do. Our babies benefit directly from every cent raised,” she said.
