A long march to nationals for Durban Crest Majorettes

The majorettes team aims to compete in various national and international competitions this year.

DURBAN Crest Majorettes, formerly known as Fynnland Crest, is comprised of a dynamic team of 25 committed athletes geared up for an exhilarating adventure as they prepare to represent Durban in national and international competitions in September.

Under the guidance of coaches Sindi Ngcobo and Bonny Fourie, these young talents are eager to flaunt their skills on prestigious platforms, but their aspirations hinge on sponsorship to transform their dreams into reality.

Having showcased their prowess at last year’s annual national competitions, securing an impressive fourth place overall, Durban Crest Majorettes are now aiming higher, eyeing a breakthrough into the top three ranks.

As the team expands, both in numbers and proficiency, the necessity for additional resources becomes increasingly crucial.

“Sponsorship is essential to cover the costs of essential items such as uniforms, travel expenses and accommodation. The team’s upcoming participation in both national and international events, including the Majorette Sport World Federation (MWF) competition in Cape Town, makes the financial burden much tighter,” said Ngcobo.

Hailing from various schools across the Durban area, the girls of Durban Crest bring with them diverse backgrounds and talents, fostering a tight-knit camaraderie despite differences in experience and duration of membership.

The recent triumph of Durban Crest at the season’s inaugural competition, hosted by Woodlands Primary School, stands as a testament to their resilience and expertise. Despite contending with challenging winds, the girls clinched first place in every category, underscoring their unwavering dedication to their craft.

For those wishing to support Durban Crest Majorettes on their journey, monetary donations can be directed to the team’s bank account: Durban Crest Majorettes, Absa, Account number: 9343023895.
