This state-of-the-art lab is poised to enhance the school’s curriculum by incorporating coding and robotics, in line with the upcoming nationwide educational mandate.

Principal Salesh Panday expressed his gratitude, stating, “We approached Liebherr Africa last May for sponsorship to establish a computer lab. Their support has been pivotal in this project. The lab is now officially opened and will be accessible to learners from the next term.”

He added that this facility will not only bolster the teaching of subjects like maths, natural science, and technology but also prepare learners for the compulsory coding and robotics curriculum starting next year.

The new computer lab is expected to be a cornerstone in the school’s educational offerings, facilitating modern teaching methodologies and fostering technological proficiency among learners. Panday noted, “Teachers are preparing to integrate computer use into their daily lessons, ensuring a holistic and forward-thinking educational experience.”

Sharlane Kandasamy, sales manager for Liebherr Africa, highlighted the company’s commitment to community development. “Liebherr Africa partnered with Parsee Rustomjee Primary School as part of our give-back programme. We were approached by Mr Panday last June. Understanding the financial challenges the school faced in introducing coding and robotics, our board of directors decided to donate R150 000 to ensure that future generations are equipped with essential technological skills,” she said.

The school held a special assembly to thank Liebherr Africa, featuring a thank you message delivered in German to honour Liebherr Africa’s German roots, an original song composed by the learners and staff, and a traditional Indian and African dance by the young learners.

Panday concluded, “Thank you Philip Grobelar and Sharlane Kandasamy from Liebherr Africa, thank you to the newly elected school-governing body members who worked tirelessly to ensure the lab was set up, and thank you to my staff for their unwavering support.”
