Shooting incident leaves one dead and one injured in Wentworth

A devastating shooting in Wentworth on Silvertree road leaves one boy dead another man with injuries.

A TRAGIC shooting incident in Wentworth on the evening of July 16 has left the community in shock, as a 17-year-old boy was killed and another 21-year-old man sustained severe injuries.

Captain Carmen Rhymes, eThekwini district police spokesperson, reported that Wentworth police officers responded to a call about a shooting incident at approximately 18:45 on Silvertree Road in Austerville. The officers arrived at the scene around 19:00 to find that the two victims had already been rushed to Wentworth Hospital.

“Upon arrival at the hospital, it was established that a 17-year-old boy had succumbed to a bullet wound to his right upper back. A second man, aged 21, was in a stable condition with a bullet wound to his chest,” said Rhymes.

She added that a case of murder and attempted murder is being investigated by the Wentworth police.
