Hitting high notes at the Merewent Cheshire Home

With plans already underway for another karaoke night in October, the Merewent Cheshire Home continues its efforts to support people living with disabilities in the community.

THE Merewent Cheshire Home hosted a spirited Karaoke Night in their hall on August 31, aimed at raising funds for their upcoming 30th-anniversary gala dinner scheduled for November. Despite the low turnout and inclement weather, the event brought joy and entertainment to those who attended.

Winnie Mkhize, the home’s manager, noted the upbeat energy among the guests. “We had DJ Colin playing lively tunes, a tuck shop selling fast food, and a gift stall,” shared Mkhize.

Kerry-Anne “Kerry pops” Williams was one of the performers of the evening.

Initially set to take place outdoors under a marquee, the event was relocated indoors due to strong winds. However, the shift to the hall did not diminish the excitement.

The room buzzed with music, laughter, and enthusiastic karaoke performances, creating a vibrant atmosphere for the small but enthusiastic crowd.

Mkhize expressed her appreciation for the support received, emphasising the critical role of such fundraisers in sustaining the home’s mission. “Despite the setbacks, we’re determined to keep going. We’re planning another karaoke night for October, and we’re hopeful for a bigger turnout,” Mkhize added.
