Youth who reside in Montclair, Yellowwood Park, Woodhaven, Woodlands, Clairwood or Mobeni, are invited to attend an introductory meeting to discuss their involvement with the youth crime-prevention desk.

Communications officer for the Montclair Police Station, Cheryl Pillay, said the youth crime-prevention programmes are vital for preventing crime.

“Police are engaging with youth to establish a platform that will allow young people to take collective responsibility; prevent criminality; address social conditions influencing offending; take part in public education and awareness campaigns to address gender-based violence and human trafficking; prevent moral regeneration; and work towards crime prevention through sport,” she said.

The meeting will take place on November 26 at Yellowwood Park Primary School, 25 Flamingo Grove, Yellowwood Park. Registration opens at 18:00, and the meeting commences at 18:30. Attendees are required to bring a copy of their ID and proof of residence.
