Business workshop looks to shape the youth’s future

Youth from The Bluff and surrounding communities were able to come together and learn about how they can turn their business ideas into a reality.

THE Wentworth Youth Development Centre was buzzing with creativity and fresh ideas as it played host to a business expo on February 28. The expo aimed to help encourage the youth in the community to take up entrepreneurship as an option for work.

Siyanda Dlamini, a ward 66 committee member under the portfolio for skills development and job creation, and a member of the eThekwini Youth In Business, said the expo was about discovering individuals’ business skills and informing the youth about opportunities in business.

Dynamic Builders Natal’s Christopher van Wiewerk shared his testimony of getting into business.

“The way to tackle unemployment is by equipping those who want to start businesses with skills,” said Dlamini. He also emphasised a quote by Ntando Mntuyedwa, a speaker from the National Development Agency, who said, “It all starts with you.”

The event brought together various stakeholders, like Imali Block Chain, National Development Agency and Dynamic Builders Natal. These organisations delivered keynote speeches and offered support services to unemployed youth interested in starting their own businesses.
