Former metro cop’s murder case pushed to May

The accused was arrested at his house in Woodhaven after he stabbed the victim, Thandokuhle Mkhize-Sishi (48), multiple times.

A MURDER trial of former Durban Metro police officer Qiniso Sishi was pushed to May 13 at the Durban High Court. Sishi appeared in court on April 17 on charges of murder.

IPID confirms postponement of the case

Spokesperson for the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID), Phaladi Shuping, said the matter was postponed until next month for sentencing.

Sishi has been convicted of murdering his partner, Thandokuhle Mkhize-Sishi, who died at her home in Woodlands on July 24, 2025.

It was heard in court that Sishi was involved in an altercation with his partner, during which he allegedly drew a knife and stabbed her multiple times.

Daughter’s horrifying encounter with the accused

Mkhize-Sishi’s daughter, who was sleeping in an outside building, heard her mother screaming for help, and went to investigate.

Sources at the time alleged that the daughter encountered her stepfather (accused) holding a blood-stained knife while the victim was lying on the floor, but still breathing.

According to the information received from the police at the time, Thandokuhle’s neighbour who witnesses the incident ran out of the house to alert other neighbours.

A neighbour transported the victim to hospital, however, she succumbed to her injuries en route.
