One dead, multiple injured in M7 crash
A devastating crash yesterday saw four cars collide with a heavy duty truck that overturned and crushed another vehicle.
A multi-vehicle collision on the M7 brought with it carnage after a woman was declared dead and multiple people were left injured yesterday afternoon (April 29).

Garrith Jamieson, spokesperson for ALS Paramedics, said that emergency services received the call and were promptly dispatched to the location just after 16:45.
Chaos and carnage
“On arrival paramedics found chaos and carnage as they found that a truck carrying what is believed to be copper plates had somehow lost control and collided with approximately four vehicles before overturning onto a light motor vehicle. Paramedics assessed the scene and found the truck driver trapped in the wreckage as well as the driver of the vehicle which the truck landed on. Immediately the eThekwini Fire Department were dispatched to assist. Two other occupants had sustained minor injuries and were treated on the scene,” said Jamieson.
Jaws of life rescue
The eThekwini Fire Department had to use the Jaws of Life to cut the truck driver free, once freed the driver was transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries. Rescue personnel then had to use a heavy-duty tow truck to lift the trailer and load of copper off the vehicle. Jamieson said the paramedics were able to then gain access and found a female believed to be in her 50s who was declared deceased on scene.
Two other people involved in the collision suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene.
