Man shot dead in Wentworth

The deceased was found dead near Quality Street in Wentworth on Friday morning. Some of his belongings were found at the scene.

A MAN was shot dead on Quality Street in Wentworth on July 24.

The man, whose name has not been released until his relatives are informed, was reportedly coming from work in the morning when unknown men shot him.

According to one of the eyewitnesses, the suspects approached the deceased and tried to rob him.

“There was a brief struggle between the armed men and the deceased. He initially overpowered them, however, one of the men pulled out a firearm and shot him. They fled the scene on foot along Quality Street,” said a witness.

Another individual was shot dead on Austerville Drive.

It is alleged that an e-hailing driver was dropping off a passenger when he was attacked by unknown suspects.

At the time of publishing, police spokesperson in Wentworth Captain Mbuso Gumede was unable to provide further details.
