Bulk carrier from Russia hits into quay at Durban port
A bulk vessel has been making its rounds on social media after footage showed it hitting into the quay at the Durban harbour.
A bulk carrier sent social media abuzz after footage circulating on various platforms showed the vessel smashing into a quay at the Port of Durban on Monday evening (August 31).

According to ship tracker, Marine Traffic, the Hawk S left the Ust-Luga port in Russia in July before making its dramatic arrival at the Durban harbour on Monday evening.
While photographs on social media showed extensive damage, nobody was reportedly injured in the incident.
It is alleged that the cause of the crash is suspected brake failure. The Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) said an investigation surrounding the cause of the crash is underway.
The TNPA said that emergency teams were deployed following the incident and that the vessel was moved to an alternative berth for inspections.
The Hawk S is a recently built bulk carrier measuring about 180m in length and 30m wide. Vessel-tracking data identifies it as a Liberian-flagged vessel.
