The application process will enable the City to monitor and control the functioning of events during the festive season for the public’s safety. Applications are only for events that will be hosted in the Durban Central, Southern, Western and Northern regions.

The municipality also noted that stage performances at bathing beaches are prohibited on the following dates: December 16, 25, 26 and 31 as well as January 1-3, 2027.

How to apply

Application forms must be collected and returned to the Events Management Office, The Platform, Lion Match Complex, Entrance No 1 (892 Umngeni Road, Durban) or emailed to Archel.Somaroo@durban.gov.za.

The municipality also noted that applying for a permit does not guarantee that permission will be granted.

Deadline for applications

The cut-off date for application is November 6 at 16:00. The municipality reserves the right to cancel an event should it be deemed non-compliant.
