Montclair cable theft suspect arrested in Halifax Road
Security officers reportedly found drugs during the arrest before the suspect was transferred to Montclair police station.
A MAN believed to be behind the theft of cables in Montclair was arrested on Kenyon Howden and Windgate Road on February 27.
Kival Singh of Security Force said a member of their response team received a call for assistance regarding infrastructure theft on the corner of Kenyon Howden and Wingate Road.
“On arrival, the suspect was observed by response members exiting the manhole with tools, one of them being a jigsaw. When the suspect noticed our team members, he fled towards Halifax Road. Our tactical members coordinated back-up with other response members, resulting in the suspect’s apprehension on Halifax Road.

“When detained, drugs and paraphernalia were found in his possession as well as cable and other implements. The police were dispatched and the suspect was taken back to the scene of the crime. Suspect was handed over to SAPS for further investigation,” said Singh.
