Be prepared for a four-hour power outage

The urgent power outage will affect Clairwood, Rossburgh and Seaview. Residents are urged to plan for this outage.

THE eThekwini Municipality has advised the public of an urgent planned outage which will interrupt electricity supply tonight (June 19), from 21:00 until 01:00 tomorrow.

The supply interruption is required to allow eThekwini Electricity to safely isolate a faulted circuit at Rossburgh substation which would affect the Karim Lane substation.

“To execute this work safely, it is necessary to interrupt electricity supply at Karim Lane substation,” eThekwini Municipality said in a statement.

Affected areas:

Parts of the following areas will be affected:

  • Clairwood.
  • Rossburgh.
  • Seaview.

“Customers should note that the same group of customers that were affected by last night’s outage on June 18 at 22:00, will be affected by this planned outage tonight. We urge customers in the area to plan for this outage,” read the statement.

During this outage the public are advised to treat all electrical installations as live.
