Network glitch disrupts emergency lines in eThekwini

As a result residents in eThekwini may face difficulties reaching emergency services through the usual channels during this period.

EMERGENCY lines are temporarily down after eThekwini Municipality experienced a network fault which has disrupted critical communication services, including the toll‑free number and emergency lines.

As a result, residents may be unable to reach emergency teams through the usual channels.

However, the municipality has assured residents that technical teams are working around the clock to identify and resolve the fault.

According to a statement released today (January 5), the municipality said all available resources have been deployed to restore full functionality as quickly as possible.

Residents are encouraged to use the following alternative contact numbers for assistance:

• Fire Services : 076 223 2224 or 063 603 5775
• Metro Police and Disaster Services: 031 367 0005
• Water and Sanitation : WhatsApp 073 1483 477. Alternatively, log faults through eThekwini Mobile App
• Electricity: Whatsapp: 076 791 2449. Alternatively, log faults through Electricity Mobile App or webfault.durban.gov.za or use the free USSD by dialing *134*3532#

These measures are in place to ensure residents can continue accessing essential municipal services without disruption.
