THE technical team from eThekwini water operations has completed all repairs on the 750mm diameter steel Wiggins high pressure supply main following an extensive repair operation.

The team worked throughout the night to complete the repairs and address the leaks identified during the repair process.

Water flow to the affected reservoirs will be reopened from midday today (August 7) to allow the epoxy applied to the repaired sections of the pipeline to set properly.

Once the water supply is reopened, the distribution system will gradually begin recovering.

eThekwini Municipality said, “Reservoir storage levels and water demand will continue to be closely monitored as the system recovers. Due to depleted reservoir storage levels, affected reservoirs will require time to refill before normal water supply is fully restored to all areas.”

Areas affected:

• Woodlands 1 and 2 Reservoirs: Austerville, Clairwood, Mobeni, Montclair, Sea View, Wentworth, Woodlands and Yellowwood Park.
• Bluff 1, 2, 3 and Bluff South Reservoirs: Austerville, Bayhead, Brighton Beach, Cave Rock, Fynnlands, Grosvenor, Jacobs, Merewent, Ocean View, Stanvac, Treasure Beach and Wentworth.
• Lamont Reservoir: Havenside, Joe Slovo, Lamont, Mobeni and Mobeni Heights.
• Ridge View Reservoir: Bellair, Blackhurst, Cato Manor, Coedmore, Hillary, Mount Vernon, Part Bellair, Ridge View, Sea View, Umkhumbaan, University and Wiggins.
