With only a few days left as until team South Africa leaves for Prismo Beach, California, where they will compete at the ISA World Para Surfing Championships, the team’s current SA silver medalist and KZN champion, Tracy Lee McKay, said adrenaline levels were high.

McKay will compete in the women’s prone 1 (unassisted) division at the upcoming world championships and was excited to be able to compete in the handcycle fundraiser.

The Bluff resident said despite the event being a tough challenge, she enjoyed participating.

“To me, conquering challenges is what life is all about. As sportsmen and women, you have to set challenges for yourself to overcome. In honesty, I thought I would only do about 40km, so I am really stoked about my final distance of 67.1km. I would like to thank everyone for their support, whether it was financial or just to support us by coming to the beach during the fundraiser. We appreciate all the support we get,” said McKay.
