Help family of father who was knocked and killed while saving son
The father's landlady spoke highly of him and appealed to people to help the family who is struggling with a devastating death and also the child in hospital.
AN appeal is being made to the community to assist the family of Edson Kapiye, who was knocked and killed when he attempted to save his two-year-old son while crossing Kenyon Howden Road in Montclair on Saturday.
The 39-year-old father, who lived in Woodlands, died at the scene, while his son, who sustained various injuries, was taken to hospital.

Rachel Janse Van Rensburg, his landlady, said Kapiye was his family’s breadwinner.
“He was a wonderful and hardworking man, a wonderful father and husband. Edson was also like a son to me. He risked his life to save his son. His son is still in hospital – he sustained a broken arm and has had to go for a brain scan [MRI] today [January 17].
“My appeal is to the community to help his family with some food parcels or in any other way that they can. It is really a difficult time for all,” she said.
