Vehicle ablaze in Yellowwood Park
Fortunately, the driver was able to escape before the vehicle was completely engulfed in flames.

A VEHICLE was engulfed in flames in Yellowwood Park after experiencing engine problems on February 26.
Around 11:15, Durban South Security received reports about a vehicle on fire on Swansmile Road. The emergency response team sprang into action, dispatching personnel to the scene. Gareth Casey, Durban South Security (DSS) spokesperson, said that when they arrived, they noticed the fire had started in the engine compartment.

“Residents had already been trying to put the blaze out with fire extinguishers but with no luck. I then assisted by grabbing a hose pipe and started spraying water on the affected areas of the vehicle, trying to prevent it from spreading. Unfortunately, that didn’t help much as the flames had already spread to the inside of the vehicle, and I had no choice but to clear the area of bystanders to a safe distance in case the vehicle exploded,” said Casey.
It wasn’t long thereafter that the fire department arrived and was able to douse the flames. Metro police, Montwood Sub-Forum members and DSS were all at the scene until it was safe and the vehicle was towed away.
There were no reported injuries as the driver was able to escape the vehicle before the flames grew bigger.
